
Action Plan to Curb Illegal Constructions in Lahore
Lahore: The Lahore Metropolitan Corporation (LMC)
is planning to launch an action plan for curtailing illegal infrastructure. The effort to digitize
several features such as shops, commercial structures, and collection of maps through an online portal.
Digitization and modernization have been at the forefront of Punjab to maintain transparency.

Municipal Secretary Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi has clearly conveyed the directives, that the LMC will establish
an online portal along with other mechanisms. A Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) representative
will oversee the matters as the Municipal Chief Information Liaison (MCIL).
A dedicated team will also be developed to control the construction of illegal work in the province of Punjab.
This special team will be enforcing all the pertaining regulations and prevent any future encroachment.
The team will be comprising officers and other relevant staff who will be trained to learn the functions
of this newly planned portal. This measure will eliminate the dependency on traditional methods
and digitize the systems for streamlining the processes.
