Railways Expedite Efforts to Retrieve 13,927 Acres of Land Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has planned to expedite its efforts to claim a huge illegally grabbed area of 13,972 acres across Pakistan. This step is being seen as a much-needed measure. The land is worth Billions of rupees located even at prime locations in many areas. The PR has shown a strong stance to overcome this long-due issue pertaining to the PR lands.

According to the sources, the Land Ministry officials have revealed that a huge land mass belonging to the Pakistan Railways will be recovered, including:

• Punjab: 1,181 Acres
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 5,948Acres
• Sindh & Baluchistan: 1,034 Acres

It is significant to mention that this land area comprises residential, agricultural and commercial nature. The land is under the illegal control of several entities such as entities, and departments.

• 769 Acres are reserved for commercial use
• 3,309 Acres is reserved for residential use
• 5,512 Acres is for agricultural use

But all of this land is encroached on by different land grabbers. The recently launched anti-encroachment drive is expected to recover all this land and be used for useful purposes by the Pakistan Railways.

Resultantly, anti-encroachment efforts by the PR will be backed by law-enforcement agencies. Notices have also been issued to the land grabbers/encroachers under the “Possession Ordinance 1965” asking for vacation from the Railway`s land or infrastructure within 2 weeks.
