According to the sources, the CDA highlighted the need for such eco-friendly measures
to emphasize the lack of proper infrastructure regarding waste disposal systems.
The directives are considered necessary, especially for large commercial areas
that produce tons of waste per day and disposal requires a proper mechanism.
The move has come in response to address concerns raised by the Health Service
Ministry – Malaria Control Directorate about potential health risks. These hazards
were found associated with waste disposal and disease spread such as Dengue and
Malaria in the Capital. The hotels are now required to maintain a hygienic and eco-friendly waste disposal.
The Ministry also highlighted the illegal junk yards in several areas that must
be removed or changed as they are also causing potential health concerns.
The areas are highlighted such as G-7/1,2,3, and H-10.
