
Bicycle Lane in Islamabad Construction Gains Momentum under CDA
Islamabad: The newly appointed Capital Development Authority
(CDA) has planned to actively pursue eco-friendly measures
such as the completion of bicycle lanes in Islamabad. These lanes will be made
alongside Highways to foster healthy activities among the public. Recently, the
Islamabad has observed a swift increase in automobiles and pollution due to
population influx from all over the country. Thus, such initiatives are going to
mitigate environmental pollution.

According to the sources, the Bicycle Lab Project (BLP) by the CDA will ensure to
development a 374km long bicycle lanes alongside the city`s highways. These lanes
will be developed in several sectors over the period of 18 months.
And the cost is estimated at around PKR 2.4 Billion. Initially, the netizens can
observe these lanes in areas such as Khayaban-e-Iqbal, Sectors G-6, G-7, G-8, and
Jinnah Avenue. Later on, these bicycle lanes will be expanded to every sector of
Islamabad.

Steps to Make Islamabad Greener
Additionally, the BLP also comprises 150 bicycle parking stands equipped with the
facilities for renting low-cost bikes. Each of these stands will accommodate around
40 electronic bikes. This represents a shift from petrol-running bikes to electric
bikes. The project will also be addressing issues like provision of lighting,
security, and other pertinent facilities at these tracks.
